My Name is Cathy Reinking,  and I started “IN MY SHOES STORIES” in 2016 to showcase great actors who haven’t gotten their “break” yet. I’ve helped hundreds of actors tell their stories. My “Claim to Fame” in the Industry has been as an Emmy-Winning Casting Director for elite Network TV Shows and Films (“Frasier”, “Arrested Development”, oversaw the casting of “The Office” and directly worked on hundreds of hours of episodic TV.) Being a Casting Director in the 90s and 2000s put me on the frontlines of negative stereotypes for Black, Asian, and Hispanic actors.  I was mortified to have to cast roles with the names “Thug”, “Gang Banger,” “Nail Tech,” and “Prostitute”.  (I mean, GIVE THEM A NAME AT LEAST). Flash forward to 2016, when I moved to Atlanta from LA to cast a film, and just stayed. I have since quit casting altogether, and found my joy in helping folks from all walks of life tell their real stories in order to help deconstruct negative stereotypes as well as providing a platform for them to PERFORM.
