DON’T DIE YET, a multimedia exhibition created by Blake Pipes. The project weaves black and white photography together with evocative illustrations to provide a meditation on loneliness, depression, and moving forward through our bleakest times.
The drawings for DON’T DIE YET provide an abstracted view of the thesis of the work while the photography by virtue of its medium tethers the work in reality. Using imagery of warped isolation, oppressive cityscapes, and scenes of decay, the photography provides a visual poem of desolation, most often represented by images of the American South. The inked illustrations, densely drawn in pen, complement the photography with dark atmospheres that pair elaborate iconography with a more direct and frantic expressionism.
Atlanta’s The Supermarket will host DON’T DIE YET, which is on view from October 25th to November 3rd. There will be an opening reception officially at 7:00pm on Friday, October 25th as well as an Artist’s Talk on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00pm.
